Kristofer Samuelsson

PHOTOGRAPHER & Director

PHOTOGRAPHER & Director

Biography

Kristofer Samuelsson has always used the camera to open doors and tell stories. He started his career capturing travels and doing documentary work and ended up as photographer for one of Sweden's larger newspapers, portraying artists, musicians and writers. From there, he turned to commercial work, always with the perspective that the person in front of the camera is the real hero, giving rise to his very recognisable style. Years later, he started to direct commercials and also shot a few, but found he was more efficient as director and commercial photographer. As the jobs got bigger, he realized he needed a trusted and well-built production team - and Folkstudion was born.

Way of working

His visual style could be attributed to his Nordic roots; clean and restrained, somewhere between polished and realistic - often with warmth. A colorful, yet filmic look, aiming at where life happens. The style itself fits brands that seek visual confidence, highlighting the human perspective, focusing on the experience rather than the product, and on evolving their business with a more sustainable message. Coming from both a strategic and creative background, Kristofer moves seamlessly between crafting images, directing commercials and the role as creative director. Having worked as a photographer for more than 15 years, he recently co-founded Folkstudion, a Stockholm-based one-stop creative house specializing in visual content.
